QUETZALCÓATL CHAIR BY ALDO ÁLVAREZ TOSTADO EDITION 1 OF 5

21,000 USD

The QUETZALCÓATL lounge chair pays tribute to the underrated legacy of Colima-born artist and furniture maker Alejandro Rangel Hidalgo, known for his ornate, hacienda-style furniture and delicate naïf depictions of regional flora and fauna. A moodier version of the classic rangeliana chair, QUETZALCÓATL takes its name from the motifs on the back of the chair, in iridescent abalone shell marquetry representation of the Aztec feathered serpent deity, offset by obsidian finials that directly reference the floating geometries of Agustín Hernández’s house/studio. Crafted in turned, charred wood and upholstered in black leather, the chair honors decorative traditions with a future anterior twist.
